Privacy policy
We use your data only to run the game. We never sell it, and we never use health data for advertising.
Habitot is a game: you care for a pet with your real habits. To do that it needs some personal information, including health information. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Habitot is made by Karman62 LLC. Questions or requests about your privacy: [email protected].
What we collect
Your account
- Your email address, or the identifier Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name the first time, and you can hide your email behind Apple’s relay address.
- Your birth year, to confirm you’re 13 or older and to set your heart-rate zones. We don’t store your birth month or day.
Health and fitness data from Apple Health
Only if you connect Apple Health:
- Workouts: type, start and end time, the app or device that recorded them, whether they were typed in by hand, and a summary of your heart rate during the workout (minutes in each heart-rate zone, plus the average, highest and lowest). We never upload individual heart-rate readings.
- Daily activity and rest: steps and flights climbed per hour, short walks detected from your steps, sleep sessions (minutes asleep), time in daylight, mindful minutes, water you’ve logged, and your resting heart rate.
- Your starting point: a 30-day average of your steps, workout minutes, sleep and resting heart rate when you first connect, used to suggest personal goals.
This information is reduced to these summaries on your phone before it’s sent. Habitot only reads Apple Health; it never writes to it.
Meal and water photos
- Photos you take with the in-app camera. Habitot can’t use photos from your library.
- Each photo is sent to Google’s Gemini AI service to identify the food or check the drink, and is deleted right after scoring, unless you turn on “Keep a food diary” in the Me tab.
- What we keep: the foods identified, a 1–5 Fuel score, a short tip, and a small fingerprint of the image (not the image itself) so the same photo can’t be counted twice.
Your game
Your pet and its history, your targets, planned workouts and rest days, sick days, battles, and reminder settings.
Purchases
Your subscription status and purchase history, handled by RevenueCat and the App Store. We never see your payment card.
App diagnostics and usage
- Crash reports and performance data (Sentry), and app-usage events such as “finished onboarding” (PostHog). These are linked to a random account ID, never your name or email, and never include health data, photos or meal details.
- If you turn on reminders, a push-notification token for your device.
How we use it
To run the game: grow and care for your pet, score meals, run battles, send the reminders you asked for, keep your account and subscription working, fix crashes, and improve the app.
We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to make decisions about you outside the game. Health data from Apple Health is used only to provide Habitot’s features, as Apple’s rules require. It is not used for marketing or advertising, and it is not shared with data brokers. Habitot does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Who helps us run Habitot
We share data only with these service providers, only as needed to run the app, under contracts that limit their use of it:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosting our database, sign-in and storage | Account, game and health summaries; photos until they’re deleted |
| Google (Gemini API, paid service) | Scoring meal photos and checking water photos | The photos and a short instruction. On Google’s paid service, inputs aren’t used to train their models |
| RevenueCat and Apple | Subscriptions and purchases | Your account ID and purchase information |
| Sentry | Crash reports | Account ID, device and crash details |
| PostHog | Usage analytics | Account ID and in-app events, with no health data |
| Expo | Delivering push notifications | Your device’s push token and the notification text |
| Apple and Google | Signing in, if you choose them | As described in Apple’s and Google’s own privacy policies |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account, pet and game data: until you delete your account.
- Meal and water photos: deleted after scoring, usually within seconds, unless you keep a food diary. Photos from a capture you abandon are deleted within a day.
- Diagnostics and analytics: for the retention period set with Sentry and PostHog, after which they are deleted automatically.
Your choices
- Apple Health: choose which data Habitot can read, or turn access off, in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
- Meal scoring: turn it off in the Me tab. Meals still count; they just aren’t scored.
- Food diary: off unless you turn it on, which keeps your meal photos.
- Reminders: on or off, with quiet hours, in the Me tab.
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Me › Delete account. This deletes your pet, your history, your photos and your data right away. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that in iOS Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or to object to how it’s used. To make a request, contact [email protected].
Children
Habitot is for people aged 13 and up. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used Habitot, contact us and we’ll delete the account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each player can read only their own data, which the database enforces. Photos are stored privately, and health records are reduced on your phone before upload.
This website
This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and it loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for a short time to keep the site secure and running.
Our mailing list
If you sign up on this website to hear when Habitot launches, we collect your email address. It’s sent to and stored by Kit (kit.com), the service we use to send our emails. Kit also records basic email statistics, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked.
We use your email address only to tell you about Habitot’s launch and send the occasional update. We never sell it or share it with anyone else. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to delete your address at [email protected]. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we stop emailing you. Your mailing list signup is separate from your Habitot app account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
